Radon Testing
Testing for radon is straightforward with the Sun Nuclear 1028 and 1030 radon monitoring devices. 12 hours before placement of the device, the homeowner is to close all exterior doors, windows, and garages. When the device is in the house, it is necessary that the house stay "closed" except for momentary entry and exit. This is to get a better snapshot of the home's radon potential. 48 hours after placement, the device is retrieved and results are e-mailed to the homeowner within 12 hours. Will schedule ASAP for due diligence contract needs!
Why Test?
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. The main source of radon is soil under the home. The only way to know your risk is to test. Radon is a silent killer: colorless, odorless, and tasteless. There is no level of radon that is considered safe. Even below the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/l is reason for concern because 2/3 of non-smoke related lung cancer cases are found in homes below 4.0 pCi/l. If the radon level in the home is elevated, mitigation is recommended. A properly mitigated home will bring the levels closer to 2.0 pCi/l. Your home can be easily and quickly fixed!
